Exclusive Interview with Crussen!
By: Your Daily Addiction
We’ve had a little interview with Crussen, who has been featured on our channel with his track “Sittin In Dust”. We both really loved the track and figured we’d like to ask him some questions. A big thank you to Crussen for answering them, we really appreciate it!
Hope you guys enjoy reading this!
YDA: First and foremost, what inspired you to start making music?
C: I guess I’ve always been looking for ways to channel creativity through, whether it was drawing, dancing or music. As a drummer in a punk band a lot of my inspiration came from the skateboarding scene and the Swedish punk bands. When I eventually got to try making music on a computer in high school, I was really fascinated by the fact that I didn’t have to practice - it was such a fast and easy way to create!
YDA: Did you have any lessons or are your skills self-taught?
C: I’ve taken lessons in French horn and drums. As I studied music in high school I also did some singing but I really sound no good, no good at all. I’ve had like one or two piano lessons so I’m basically self-taught there.
YDA: What is your process of creating a new song / mix?
C: The processes is not often the same but usually it starts off with something that triggers my inspiration - a peculiar rhythm, sound or sample. Another process I really like is to pick up a chord sequence or whatever from an old project of mine. Depending on my mood or inspiration at the time this little “old” snippet usually becomes something very different from the last time I worked with it. Recycling!
YDA: Which track you like the most, yourself?
C: I still really enjoy NU’s “MAN O TO”. Tastefully produced with a relaxed and original vibe to it. Nevertheless danceable
YDA: Any advice for aspiring producers / dj’s?
C: Experiment. Limit your creative tools in some way, learn some “rules” and tricks - then you can break them.
